Singapore faces a fundamental constraint that limits conventional solar deployment: there is simply not enough open land or dedicated roof space to scale traditional photovoltaic installations meaningfully. Raitan addresses this directly. Our solar pavement and solar deck systems, supplied in partnership with Platio, integrate photovoltaic generation into the surfaces that already form part of your built environment — pedestrian walkways, public plazas, rooftop terraces, and elevated decks. Paired with the MUGEN distributed ESS, which is designed to be installed into existing dead spaces rather than requiring dedicated plant rooms, the result is a complete on-site generation and storage solution that demands no additional footprint whatsoever. It is the only solar approach that works with Singapore's land constraints rather than against them.
PILOT DEPLOYMENT
Solar Pavement at Sentosa Skywalk, Singapore
Raitan successfully completed a pilot installation of 612Wp of solar pavement at Sentosa skywalk, a real-world public-space deployment demonstrating the integration of photovoltaic paving with micro-inverters technology. Unlike string inverter systems where a single shaded panel degrades the output of the entire array, each micro-inverter operates independently. This is critical at Sentosa Skywalk, where the walkway railings cast moving shadows across the pavement at different times of day — the micro-inverter architecture ensures each tile continues to harvest maximum available power regardless of partial shading. This project was recognised at the 2022 Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge, where Raitan won the Sentosa Challenge category.
